How we work

What you can expect, with no surprises

From the first message to the consultation: the steps, how we treat you, the cost, how you pay, and what to bring.

The steps

  1. You tell us the basics

A short form, a call, a text, or WhatsApp. Don't include sensitive details about the case. We'll talk about those if we schedule a consultation.

  2. First contact, at no cost

Brief. We check that there is no conflict of interest, learn about the matter in general terms, and explain how we work. It is not legal advice and does not create an attorney-client relationship.

  3. Legal consultation ($125)

We review your documents and evidence beforehand. We discuss workable options and give you, in writing, the ways we can assist you and what they cost. The attorney-client relationship begins only when both parties sign a services agreement.

Trauma-informed practice

We know that talking about what happened is hard, and that violence affects memory, communication, and decision-making. We work with that in mind:

  • We offer you options: you can call, write, or ask us to call you.
  • We don't ask you to recount what happened over and over. Wherever possible we keep the retelling to the minimum needed to advise you and present the case to the court. We go at your pace.
  • We explain the process and the possible outcomes, and we keep you informed.
  • We don't judge your past or present decisions. We are here to widen your options, not to assess you.

Frequently asked questions

Do I have to hire you right away?

No. Requesting information or attending a consultation does not oblige you to hire us and does not establish an attorney-client relationship. That relationship begins only if both parties sign a professional services agreement.

What happens after I send the form?

We get in touch with you through the methods and at the times you told us are safe. That first contact is brief and is not a legal consultation: it serves to check that there is no conflict of interest, learn about the matter in general terms, explain how we work and, if appropriate, arrange your legal consultation.

What if I need help outside business hours?

If you are in imminent danger, your first step should always be to call 9-1-1 or the Puerto Rico Police. For legal guidance, the office offers flexibility when the case warrants it.

How do you protect my privacy?

What you share in the form is used solely and exclusively to contact you and arrange your consultation. It is not used for marketing of any kind, it is not sold or shared with third parties, and this site does not use remarketing advertising based on your visit.

What should I bring to the consultation?

Before the consultation, send us the name of the other party, a copy of the complaint or petition if a case is already before the court, and the case number. At least one day beforehand, fill out and return a short form that we will send you.

How do I get there and where do I park?

Tropical Plaza #272 (tercer piso), Carr. #2 Km 86.2, Marginal de Casa Febus, Hatillo, PR 00659. Ample parking. If you would rather not travel, we meet by video call across the island. Open in Google Maps
