Despacho Legal Equitas, LLC ("Equitas", "we", or "our") values and respects the privacy of the people who visit our website. This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, store, and protect the personal information obtained through our website, as well as the rights you have over that information.

This website is directed primarily at residents of Puerto Rico.

2. Information We Collect

a. Information provided voluntarily

We may collect personal information when you:

Complete the website's general contact form
Complete the form to schedule a legal consultation
Contact us by email, phone, text message, or WhatsApp

The information collected may include:

First and last name
Email address
Phone number
Pronouns, if you choose to share them
Messages or other information you choose to share

b. Information to arrange a consultation

A legal consultation is requested through the form on the "Schedule your consultation" page. In addition to your contact details, that form collects the type of matter — in four general categories — the methods and times you tell us are safe for contacting you and, at the end, whatever you choose to write on your own in an optional free-text field. That information is used to make a preliminary assessment of the matter, to check that there is no conflict of interest, and to arrange your consultation.

The form does not ask you for details of your situation: that field can be submitted blank and does not affect your request. If you would rather not write anything about your case, you don't have to, and we ask you not to include confidential or sensitive information while no attorney-client relationship exists. The conversation happens afterwards, through the method you chose.

We do not use external appointment-scheduling tools. Scheduling is handled directly with our office.

c. Payments

We may offer the option of making payments online through LawPay.

Equitas does not store and has no access to credit or debit card information. All payment information is processed directly by LawPay under its own privacy and security policies.

d. Technical record of the submission

A minimal technical record is stored alongside each submitted form. You do not write it; the site takes it from the connection:

An encrypted version of your IP address, produced by a cryptographic digest with a secret key. Your IP address is never stored in the clear, and that digest cannot be used to reconstruct it.
The identifier your browser sends to any website (the "user-agent"), which indicates the type of browser and operating system, not who you are.

These are kept for a single purpose: to tell submissions by people apart from automated ones and to limit abuse of the form. They are not used to identify you, to profile you, or for advertising, and they are not shared with anyone.

Browsing the site without submitting a form generates none of these records. Separately from this, and as happens on any website, our hosting provider maintains its own server logs as part of its service.

3. Information We Do NOT Collect

We do not collect sensitive financial information directly.
We do not collect detailed legal information through the website.
We do not knowingly collect information from minors.

4. Use of your data

The information you give us through the website is used for a single purpose, in three steps:

To contact you through the method and at the time you told us are safe
To check that there is no conflict of interest
To arrange your consultation and send you appointment reminders

We do not use it for anything else. We do not send newsletters or promotional communications, we do not sell personal information, and we do not share it with third parties so that they can contact you.

5. Advertising and remarketing

We do not use form data or browsing activity on this site for advertising, remarketing, or audience building. We only record, in aggregate and without personal data, that a request was completed.

6. Attorney-Client Relationship and Confidentiality

Sending information through this website does not create an attorney-client relationship. We ask that you not include confidential or sensitive information in the website's forms.

An attorney-client relationship is established only by express agreement confirmed by the firm.

7. Cookies and Tracking Technologies

Browsing this site installs no cookies. We do not use web analytics or advertising tags on the site's pages, and there is no profiling of your visit.

The only thing we store in your browser is a technical setting belonging to the site itself: if you close the safety notice that appears at the top, that preference is remembered in the tab's session storage and disappears when you close it. It never travels to any server and it identifies no one. Nothing else is stored, and nothing survives closing the tab.

When we have advertising campaigns running, upon completing the submission of the consultation form — and only at that moment, never before and on no other page — the Google Ads conversion tag is loaded to record that a request was completed. It is configured with ad personalization turned off and with no page-view recording, so it measures the result of our campaigns without building audiences or allowing any ad to follow you afterwards. We do it this way for your safety: an unexpected ad on a shared device can put someone at risk.

When no campaigns are running, nothing at all from Google is loaded on any page of the site.

You can set your browser to refuse cookies and site storage; the site works the same either way.

8. Providers and Third Parties

We may use technology service providers, including:

MyCase (case management and communications)
Google Workspace (email and documents)
LawPay (payment processing)
Supabase (storage of requests submitted through the website's forms)
Vercel (website hosting)

These providers have access only to the information necessary to provide their services and are subject to confidentiality and security obligations.

We do not share or sell personal information to third parties for commercial purposes.

9. Retention of Information

Information collected through the website is retained for a period of up to five (5) years, or for as long as reasonably necessary to:

Fulfill the purposes described in this policy
Comply with applicable legal, ethical, or professional obligations

10. Your Rights

You have the right to:

Request access to your personal information
Request corrections
Request deletion of your information, subject to legal obligations
